Brrrrr-illiant week!

Snowy Toronto

Due to exploring, exercising and being too freezingly numb to type, I haven’t updated my blog for a while! So apologies for that.

I have, however, got a multitude of photographs to explain where I have been and what I have been up to.

The weather here has gone from the pretty typical winter cold that we are used to in England, to minus double numbers!  I was looking longingly at the snowy pictures of Sunderland one day, to waking up to a white world outside the window the next.  The snow has found Toronto, and boy does it like it here.  We have experienced -22 some days, and the warmest it has been all week is about -13.  It’s just gone winter crazy round these parts… and I have to say, I am loving it!😀

Where did Sunday go?

So true!

Saturday has always been my favourite.  I get to spend all day with my husband, watching football and having a drink.  The only thing is now that we are in Toronto it is a whole different kind of brilliant!

Instead of the match kicking off at 3pm, it’s 10am.  Instead of having a couple before the game, having a 90 minute break then going out for the night afterwards, we drink throughout the game and carry on afterwards.  Instead of spending too much, we spend FAR too much!

So when we wake up on Sunday morning groggy and with banging heads, we always vow ‘Never again!’ But what we really mean is ‘Can’t wait for next weekend.’

Gym’ll fix it!

To be clear, I mean the fitness studio, not the shell suit wearing man of questionable sexual ethics.

Anyway, moving on…

I had my operation at the end of October, and was told no exercise (apart from light swimming and walking) until after the year.  Now, months later, I am nearly 2 stone heavier than I was when I went down to surgery.  I had spent a good year going to the gym regularly previous to the op, and was really enjoying exercising, but after months of nothing but a few lengths of the pool I struggled to find the motivation to get back into it.

That is until I put my favourite skinny jeans on and had to breathe in to fasten them, and once fastened, keep my breath in, for as soon as I relaxed someone was gonna get a button in the eye!!  Not so bloody skinny jeans after all!

Motivation defintely required!

Toronto – The Sequel

Bon Voyage!

So, we are back in Toronto for part 2 of our Canadian adventure.  Although it is not in the league of such great sequels as Godfather Part II, Toy Story 2 or the epic Short Circuit 2, we are hopeful that it won’t be a disaster of Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry met Lloyd proportions!  (Although it does have some similarities – an example being my response to the Air Hostess asking “Red or white wine?”.  My reply? “Yes please.” *shakes a blushing head*)

2013 has me worn out already…

and it’s only 6 days in!

Celebrate good times!

A quiet New Year’s day prepared us for a very unquiet January 2nd!  We were going to Liverpool to watch Sunderland, and staying over at our friends Darren and Dawn”s house in Manchester.  Anytime we are with Darren and Dawn, whether it be for a few sociable drinks or a big night out, it is always messy.  This trip was no different.  Double D seem to have that effect on us, although I am sure they will say it is our fault!😉

…And a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Mackem Style!

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to wish my family, friends and blog followers a very happy new year and all the best for 2013.

Traditionally the beginning of a new year is taken by most to have a fresh start, a chance to right some wrongs and to make promises about new gym subscriptions, sobriety and opening a savings account.  I fall into this category of people, and my list of resolutions is as long as my arm!

However, saying that, personally I am very sad to say goodbye to an absolutely fantastic 12 months.  As with every year, there have been great highs and some real  lows, but in general 2012 has been a total life changer.

Flying home for Christmas!

Flying home for Christmas

As great as Toronto is, and even though we have had the most wonderful time there, where better to spend the holidays than at home with family and friends?  Dorothy got it spot on with her famous statement, there really is no place like home.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Christmas market Toronto

Toronto Christmas Market.  This is easily in my top 3 places I have visited in my time here in Toronto.  It was, in a word, magical.

Everything about the place was pure festive fun, as if pulled straight from a Christmas movie in which Phil and I were given the lead roles.

Christmas Party with Marty!

Christmas party with Marty

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it is to see Sunderland win… AT ALL!!😀

Get in my bonny lads in red and white!  You have kicked off my Christmas party this year, and just when we needed it too.

Anyone who knows their football will tell you that Sunderland AFC are not on Santa’s nice list this year.  We have been terrible and we desperately needed to win today/tonight (depending on your time zone) and win we did!
